GRAND CENTRAL

Grand Central is in effect the civic heart of the entire Century City. This impressive public square on the banks of the Intaka Island wetlands reserve houses the new premises of the Century City Property Owners’ Association and serves as the nerve centre of its security operations.

Century City’s internal railway line, running along the banks of the Grand Canal from the Canal Walk Shopping Centre, circles the Village Green before stopping at Grand Central Station, established alongside educational exhibits from the golden age of steam.

Close to two historic locomotives, a bridge provides the main pedestrian access to Intaka Island, Century City’s award-winning wetlands conservation area, offering another outcomes-based educational opportunity for schools and other groups.

A clubhouse and multi-purpose is being built overlooking the sports grounds. This multi-purpose recreational facility will also serve as the home of the Century City Canoe Club, and may be hired for social functions such as birthday parties by residents of Century City.
