Oasis Life Clara Anna Fontein in Durbanville welcomes first retirement residents

It was a grey and rainy day on Friday, 26 June, but the subdued weather could not dampen the excitement of welcoming the first retirement residents in Oasis Life Clara Anna Fontein.  Rabie Property Group’s retirement development within the Clara Anna Fontein Lifestyle Estate was launched in 2018 and since then, phase one of the development nearing completion.

Mike and Wendy Rolfe took occupation of their home, aptly number 1, just as the sun started to break through the clouds.  “After months of interaction with the Rabie and Louw & Coetzee staff, we had been looking so forward to moving into our new home at Oasis Life. It was frustrating for all of us that the Covid problem arose and delayed everything.” says Mike Rolfe “However, when we were finally given the go ahead to move in, we were absolutely overwhelmed by the welcoming party that awaited us on our arrival. It really made this a special day, one to remember for the rest of lives.”

The Rolfes relocated from Plattekloof to be closer to their son and his family, who reside in Clara Anna Fontein Estate.

“It’s been a long journey since our retirement product was conceptualised. Rabie wanted to create an exclusive hospitality-based retirement lifestyle, with age-tailored homes that are of exceptional quality. Our marketing and sales teams had to rely on a concept off-plan and to finally welcome the first residents to their new home, is a significant moment for us.”
– Miguel Rodrigues, Director | Rabie

Miguel Rodrigues, Director at Rabie handed over the keys to the couple. “It’s been a long journey since our retirement product was conceptualised.  Rabie wanted to create an exclusive hospitality-based retirement lifestyle, with age-tailored homes that are of exceptional quality.  Our marketing and sales teams had to rely on a concept off-plan and to finally welcome the first retirement residents to their new home, is a significant moment for us.”

Phase one consists of 58 houses of various sizes, as well as a R25-million Clubhouse, which will be completed in December.  The Clubhouse will include a restaurant, primary healthcare suites, library and multi-function venue.  Residents also have access to the estate’s existing Lifestyle Centre that includes function and meeting facilities, a gymnasium, squash court, two tennis courts and a 3-lane, 25m heated swimming pool.  Over the next month, more residents will take occupation of their homes.

“A quality retirement product within a security estate, a prime location and access to top quality health care services, will always be in demand, despite a tough economic crisis.”
– Francois Louw, Managing Director | Louw Coetzee Properties

Francois Louw, Managing Director of Louw Coetzee Properties, who have been an integral part of Clara Anna Fontein since 2015 says “This marks a significant achievement for the agency and the local market and we are proud to open the doors of these designer homes to our clients”. Louw is humble on his sales team’s success, but states “A quality retirement product within a security estate, a prime location and access to top quality health care services, will always be in demand, despite a tough economic crisis.”

The first retirement residents of Oasis Life launched the operational management team into action.  Headed up by experienced hoteliers, Glyn Taylor and Gary Koetser, joint CEOs of Century City Conference Centre and Hotel, the operational team will deliver on the hospitality aspect of Oasis Life.  They will also be responsible for the daily management of the retirement development.
