Sinenjongo’s Valedictory Celebrations

c which Rabie adopted as the major beneficiary of its CSI programme five years ago, held its 2012 Valedictory Celebration in the Joe Slovo Park community hall on Saturday 13 October.

There was hardly a dry eye in the house as learners who had excelled in either academic or non-academic areas were rewarded with certificates and medals and photographed with their family.

VIP guests included Adam and Lisa Pike from the Platteklip Charity Challenge that raised R434 000 for Sinenjongo this year when more than 100 brave athletes summited Table Mountain via Plateteklip Gorge between one and winner of the challenge, AJ Calitz, at 11 times! The money has been used to fund the salaries of additional teachers and to cover the cost of bussing matric learners to Bloekombos for additional lessons on Saturday mornings.

The 60 strong member choir wowed the audience time and again and guest speakers, which included past pupils, gave poignant and inspirational speeches.
All in all a heart- warming experience.

We wish the 2012 matrics all of the best as they prepare for the final run to exams!!! Good luck, you can do it!!
