Extra parking garage for Bridgeways

Construction of a new structured parking garage to provide an additional 350 bays in the Bridgeways precinct close to the Century City Conference Centre is to start shortly.

The four level parking garage, which includes a basement, will provide overflow parking for the Century City Conference Centre, Hillsong Church, Virgin Active Gym as well as other businesses in the vicinity.

Rabie introduces stringent water saving measures

Rabie Property Group has been and will continue to implement stringent potable water saving measures to try and stave off Day Zero when the city’s taps are expected to run dry.

Rabie director Miguel Rodrigues says the Group is implementing all necessary measures to ensure all their on site construction activities use only non-potable water.

“We are 80% there and will be as close as possible to 100% compliant within the next few weeks. The only potable water used on site thereafter will be for welfare purposes such as drinking and the washing of hands.’’

Rabie awarded SA’s 300th green building certification

Rabie Property Group scooped the 300th green building certification at the Green Building Council of South Africa at the organisation’s recent 10th annual convention at Century City.

Rabie, a pioneer in green building, received the latest award in the As Built category for its mixed use Century City Square development – the first mixed use development in South Africa to achieve this. The Square was also the first mixed use development in Cape Town and the second country wide to be awarded Green Star accreditation for a mixed use development in the Design category.

It is official. Century City Square, the new all-green commercial and hospitality hub of Century City, is South Africa’s top mixed use development.

The development received the prestigious SAPOA Property Development Award for Innovative Excellence in the mixed use category at the 2017 SAPOA Convention in Cape Town this week.

Century City Conference Centre goes solar!

A solar energy system has been installed on the roof of the Century City Conference Centre which is expected to cut the centre’s carbon emissions by 17% per year.

Split over two roofs, the system consists of over 800 photovoltaic panels that will generate electricity directly from the sun for the conference centre which was recently developed by the Rabie Property Group.

Century City’s upmarket Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa is  now a Marriott hotel, part of the world’s largest hotel group – the first property in South Africa to be branded as such..

Crystal Towers Hotel & Spa was opened in 2009 as an African Pride Hotel, and operated under this luxury brand until now.

Century City launches an Arts Trail for the public

Century City has launched an Arts Trail, initially comprising 24 exhibits, in and around the 250 hectare precinct.

Most of the exhibits are outdoors and range from the Impromptu Pavilion in Century City Square celebrating South Africa’s diversity and its 11 official languages to sculptures by Right Mukore to the Station Walkway and its graffiti artwork welcoming pedestrians from the Century City Station.
