Staff from Rabie Property Group and Century City Property Owners’ Association (CCPOA) joined forces on Mandela Day, July 18 to make hundreds of sandwiches and treat packs that they then distributed to an orphanage, crèche and other hungry children in Joe Slovo in Milnerton.
Spokeswoman for the group, Maggie Rowley, said they had been set to assist an NGO, Clean C, to paint walls, containers and a playground for the Masikuleleke crèche and Paradesi Place of Safety for Orphans and Vulnerable Children in the township on Friday for their 67 minutes for Mandela this year.
“When the weather turned foul with torrential rains last week we postponed our painting commitments to this Friday and decided to do something extra for the community on the 18th to acknowledge our pledge for Mandela Day.”
A group of around 60 staff “painters” from Rabie and CCPOA will be working in shifts in Joe Slovo this Friday to bring a lick of paint and colour to the community.
