A Future of Excellence: Celebrating Sinenjongo High School’s Brightest Stars

Maggie Rowley Sinenjongo Assistance Fund 2025 Recipient

Sange Dastile, a dedicated and passionate learner from Sinenjongo High School, has been successfully selected as the Maggie Rowley Sinenjogo Assistance Fund (MRSAF) recipient for 2025 for his tertiary education career. A prestigious award that recognises academic excellence, leadership and community involvement.

Sange is a first-year medical student at the University of Stellenbosch, and he aims to specialise as a surgeon once completing his MBCHB degree. He states that, “Since I was a child, I always dreamt of doing Medicine. This dream was solidified by multiple factors like, my grandparents and my mother who were always keen in helping people around them which inspired me to also want to help those in need. Also, my love for Life Sciences as a subject and my pure fascination about the human body and how it functions, truly fascinates me.”

The value that the MRSAF offers is a holistic approach on the personal and professional development of a young aspiring student. We are honoured to have an ambitious individual who understands the importance of growth in all areas of life.

“After receiving my final results, I was always praying that I receive an Assistance Fund that is not just going to just support me financially but one that is going to ensure that I am supported in many ways such as academically as well as mentally. The Maggie Rowley Sinenjongo Assistance Fund has been like that ever since my first day at university.  They are not just a bursary to me but a family that is always there whenever I need them,” says Sange.

Four friends celebrate outstanding academic success in their final year of High School

History was made as four exceptional students from Sinenjongo High School earned top academic honours in their final year, all securing straight A’s and collectively maintaining an average above 90%. Sange Dastile (Medicine at Stellenbosch), Thuto Dlothi (Actuarial Science at UCT), Stephano Bulawa (Computer Science at UCT), and Enock Gcwabaza (Aviation at FlyFoFA Aviation Training) — longtime friends and dedicated scholars — have demonstrated outstanding excellence in their studies, earning recognition as the school’s highest achievers.

Throughout their academic journey, the group supported each other, balancing rigorous coursework, extracurricular activities, and community service. Their success is a testament to their hard work, perseverance, and the power of friendship.

“We always pushed each other to be our best,” said Enock. “Having such a strong support system made all the difference, especially during challenging times.”

Furthermore, in a milestone achievement, both Thuto and Stephano were honoured by Premier Alan Winde for ranking among the Top 40 students in the entire Western Cape Province in their final National Senior Certificate Exam. It was a moment of immense pride, not only for the school but for the entire community that has supported and believed in these young trailblazers.
