More than a year ahead of completion, buyers have snapped up 105 of the 140 Ashton Park Century City apartments, a new residential development by the Rabie Property Group.
Brian Usher, manager of Property World, the specialist on- site agency at Century City, said sales to date have totalled R180million, representing more than 70% of the total sales value.

Ashton Park, which is being developed in phases, is being built on a site bordering the new Curro school which opened in January 2013. It comprises four sectional title blocks and seven villas. All 43 one, two and three bedroom apartments in the first block, Waterberry have been sold as have 29 of the 31 apartments in the second phase, Silvertree. Only six of the 28 apartments in the third block, Yellowwood remain to be sold while 11 of the 38 apartments in the fourth block, Willowgreen have already been sold since it was launched last month. Usher said sales had been “nothing short of phenomenal”.
“It bears testament to the fact that well located, good quality developments, that offer value for money will always be in demand.”
He said in the past 10 years Property World had sold almost 1900 new development units in Century City for a total consideration of R2,5 billion and more than 360 resales totalling a further R500million since July 2006. And although we are not seeing the same number of sales as we did in the heady days of 2006/2007, the demand for homes at Century City has continued unabated and we have had the best February to April in five years. Sales are being spurred by the quality of life offered in the precinct from its safety and security to the high level of infrastructure and services to all the world class amenities literally in walking distance.
“This, coupled by the fact that there are a finite number of residential opportunities available are continuing to drive sales with people realising that if they do not want to miss the boat, they had better get in now. In fact after Ashton Park there is currently only one more residential development planned for Century City which will provide a further 140 or so apartments.”
He said as expected a fair number of owner occupiers had bought at Ashton Park due to its close proximity to the school.
“We had anticipated this and as a consequence increased the size of the units which, with balconies, vary from 87m2 for one bedroom apartments up to 326m2 for large three bedroom units.”
Prices of Ashton Park Century City apartments still available for sale range from R1 200 000 to R3 680 000.
