Located on the picturesque hills of Durbanville, Clara Anna Fontein, a farm steeped in history has become the home to one of Cape Town’s prime lifestyle estates. Developed by Rabie Property Group, the estate comprises of large single residential erven, lock-up-and-go homes known as The Village, Reddam House Durbanville and now, Oasis Life, Rabie’s luxury retirement development based on life rights.
Oasis Life Clara Anna Fontein was successfully launched in November 2018 from the estate’s beautiful lifestyle centre, which is integrated seamlessly with the original 1800 homestead – painstakingly restored and stylishly decorated.
Breaking ground on the site, located opposite Reddam House Durbanville commenced soon after and construction of phase one’s home started in June 2019.
Of the six house types available for purchase, three different types were constructed as show houses – a large 3-bedroom, 2-bathroom home and two mid-sized homes with 2-bedrooms and 2-bathrooms. Every home in the retirement development has a single or double garage, as well as an undercover braai area and an exclusive use garden.
The three show houses were carefully styled by two interior designers, Peet van der Merwe from Chrome Interiors (also responsible for the look and feel of the lifestyle centre) and Terry Perlman from Terry Perlman Interior Decorators & Project Management. Furnishing the homes in different styles allows potential purchasers to see how each home’s potential is presented in various ways.
On Saturday, 16 November, the beautifully decorated show houses were launched at an exclusive event to purchasers awaiting the completion of their homes and those who have indicated interest but were waiting to experience the completed product. The show houses were made available to the public from Sunday onwards.
“We were pleasantly overwhelmed by the number of visitors we received at our new show houses, with 112 visitor groups on Saturday and 72 visitor groups on Sunday – a total of 450 visitors, which is a phenomenal response.” says Miguel Rodrigues, Director at Rabie. “Our agents, Louw Coetzee Properties sold three homes over the weekend alone and we look forward to a great take-up from here on forward.”
Desmond Smith, retired Chairman of Sanlam, has purchased a home during the year is delighted by the result.
“The first words that come to mind are: blown away! To walk into a similar home to the one we have purchased and experience the outstanding quality is absolutely fantastic. The entire process thus far has been excellent, and we have been reassured that the lifestyle we are investing in is going to be wonderful.”
“We have been quite skeptical about moving to a so-called retirement village, therefore the most attractive aspect of Clara Anna Fontein is that it is set on a multi-generational estate”, Smith continues. “The fact that there are families in varying life stages on the estate, sharing the facilities and the beautiful lifestyle centre is a great benefit. Having seen the care and attention to detail the developers deliver on, instills confidence that the life rights model at Oasis Life offers an unbeatable luxury lifestyle, with the estate maintained at premium level. We truly cannot wait to move in!”
The remainder of phase one is under construction, with Oasis Life’s exclusive clubhouse forming part of this. In addition to the use of the estate’s Lifestyle Centre, residents can enjoy a restaurant, library, primary healthcare suites, gym and media centre in their own clubhouse, a little closer to home.
“It is a significant moment for us to showcase to purchasers and potential purchasers that our development delivers on every promise we make – security, quality and spacious homes.” Says Rodrigues “As much as we are providing retirement homes, each aspect of the design is contemporary and contributes towards a superb modern lifestyle. With the hustle and bustle just five minutes away, Clara Anna Fontein offers an exceptional retirement choice.”
