Councillor Riad Davids, ward Councillor of Pinelands, cut the ribbon on Rabie’s PineworX on Friday 19 May 2023. This is the first apartment development completed in 25 years in South Africa’s first garden city, Pinelands.
“It’s a fantastic development in the heart of Pinelands,” said Counsellor Davids at the ceremony. “We want to implore on developers to build more developments like this in Pinelands. Pinelands is a beautiful suburb, but we need the younger generation to live in more trendy buildings such as PineworX. Once you live in Pinelands, you never want to leave!”
Present at the ribbon cutting was the Seeff Pinelands team responsible for selling. This successful franchise is headed up by stalwarts of the real estate market with a 50-year track record in the suburb and joint owners of the business, Johan, and Loraine Meyer. Joining them were lead agents Julie Meyer and Kathy Anderson.
“PineworX is such a special development for us,” says Mariska Auret, Director at Rabie and Project Director of the building. “Nestled in this historic suburb of Cape Town we are proud to have brought a modern mixed-use block to the suburb, offering new investment opportunities.”
“We would like to thank the various teams for taking PineworX from concept to homes that will be enjoyed by residents soon. From the incredible Seeff Pinelands team to our construction company Big Ben, our own Rabie project management team, right through to all our professionals and Council officials. We trust that PineworX is the start of much more investment into this leafy suburb.”
The construction of the 4-storey building commenced at the end of 2021 and handovers to new owners will commence in the week of 22 May 2023, a little ahead of schedule. It comprises of 4 640m², 94 apartments, ranging from studios to two-bedroom units, with retail on the ground floor and a hundred secure parking bays underneath and behind the building. Owners can also enjoy a rooftop terrace, which features a built-on braai and views towards the city.
The retailers include a Bootlegger Coffee Company XS Store, a laundrette, attorney’s office, and beauty salon. Rozprint and Seeff’s offices will be moving from Howard Centre.
“We are looking forward to moving our offices to right next door to Bootlegger,” says Johan Meyer from Seeff Pinelands. “Being street facing, we will be much more accessible to our clients and will of course have fantastic coffee! We just love this development, and we wish all our clients who invested on PineworX many happy returns.”
